What it takes to open your mind? to open up emotionally? What it takes to become open to trusting? What it takes to open up when you don’t feel like it and as a result, you don’t want to. It feels uncomfortable. Why would I want to put myself in an uncomfortable situation? It is like falling back not knowing whether I’m going to land on soft grass or on a concrete cement. So I prefer not to take that chance.
The word chance, to most, hints about an unwanted and sometimes dangerous outcome. However when you think about it in terms of experience, what lasts longer, the path you take to achieve something or the outcome itself when it arrives?
A person may spend his entire life, working towards a goal, but once that goal is reached and the satisfactory sensation subsides, the experiencing of reaching the desired outcome passes practically immediately.
When thinking about opening up we’re fixating on an unwanted outcome, never even thinking about the longevity of that outcome. Everything passes. Everything is constantly changing. That is the indisputable fact of life.
We give up on so many opportunities because we choose to feel safe because we imagine an unsafe outcome. The unknown is labeled as a dangerous territory in our creative imagination. And it doesn’t matter that it can be adventurous, fun, exciting, joyful, what matters to us the most is that we might not like the outcome of the unknown.
Do you recognize your self-preserving imaginative thoughts when they happen? Do you see yourself taking the side that scares you the most, believing in the imaginable, the side that stops you from just going for it and opening up to possibility?
Do you remember the adventurous childhood-like feeling of the unknown? not knowing what is going to happen feels like you’re floating because there are no limitations or threats in your minds imagination. But the presence of the intuitive sensation of trust was overridden by scary stories that formed into beliefs. Don’t you want to go back to being adventurous and free of worry?
You may think that it is not possible and there is no way back, and if there is it must be hard. But who is initiating a thought that you hear? Is it you? if you think that it is you, then who is hearing it? if you think again that it is you, then don’t you think that it is kinda redundant saying to yourself what you already know? And if that is the case, then why do we have thoughts altogether? Just let these questions shake your consciousness, don’t try to figure out the answers.
What you hear in your head in a form of thoughts are the echoes of your past decisions to believe in something that you thought was important. The importance of those things to you, caused them to become true. Because when you act repeatedly by taking action on your imagined fears and imaginative thoughts in general, you validate their truth to yourself. An imagined truth that was yet to become real. By choosing to believe in something that is not there we make it our truth.
If I was to take something from this post it would be the following: If you think that you can’t, then know that the thought that is saying it – is not you. It is only your past decision to believe that what you are hearing right now is true. It is here to remind you that what you want right now conflicts with your past decision of believing some truth. Therefore you need to inspect that belief and see its falseness. Only then you’ll be able to move on doing what you want. And if you what to become free of worry and adventurous once again, then so be it.
