Life tends to sway us from side to side, put us down, show us that what we want is not realistic. Society influences us about how we need to live our lives and judges us if we divert from the conventual ways of living. As a result, we prefer to isolate and avoid people that lecture us how we should live our lives.
Let me tell you that the reason we chose not to interact with our oppressors is that we are afraid that they are right. If you were 100% sure about what you are doing, you wouldn’t mind what others say or think about you.
How can we become confident in ourselves and what we choose to do?
Well, you can’t. You can’t decide to become confident. What we can do, is to focus on our desires that set our goals. Because even in moments of doubt, worry, fear, negative thoughts and emotions, there is place in each one of us that knows what we want, and nothing can change that.
If you don’t have the resources or the opportunities, it doesn’t mean necessarily that you stop wanting what you want. However, if we agree with our negative thoughts and conclude from the current circumstance that what we want is not possible, it becomes our reality. We begin to suffer emotionally, and there is nothing we can do about it.
Understand that only you have the power to keep your inner flame of desire going. No one has the means to get into your soul unless you let them convince you that you are not deserving, incapable, unworthy and not loved. You need to anchor your self to what you want from life. Because what you want is not going anywhere, if you give up, you still will be reminded about what you want for the rest of your life.
A common reason for giving up is jumping ahead trying to achieve what is currently beyond our reach — trying to earn a million dollars tomorrow, wanting to be successful in a week. Life is not about reaching destinations. It is about traveling to those destinations. Otherwise, we would all achieve what we want in minutes, and there wouldn’t be much of a point to our lives.
However, there is always something you can do to move towards your goals, dreams, and purpose using what have right now, doing what you can do right now. But if you let other people or even your thoughts divert you from what you want, chances are that you will struggle. You will find yourself on a swing going back and forth from what you want to achieve to thinking that you can’t.
Next time you doubt yourself, ask yourself – “Do my feelings, thoughts or emotions change what I want? If the answer is no then what you want is possible. Choose to believe in that because it is not going anywhere. Be empowered by knowing your true desires and move towards their realization, accepting yourself and what you can do right now, and go for it.
