True beauty lies in not knowing. Can you appreciate a flower only by knowing about it or thinking about it? You are limited by your mind to experience a flower because the essence of thought is a limitation. A thought has a beginning and an end. A thought can be easily disturbed by another thought. A thought doesn’t last long unless you make an effort for it to last.
On the other hand, witnessing a flower is effortless. A flower doesn’t require any description of shape, color, smell, dimension, location. You must forget about all of this if you truly want to experience the beauty of existence, even your own. The dimension of thought, if not mastered, will pull you away from being able to experience effortless existence.
But how can you master the mind?
First, understand that the mind cannot be mastered by the mind itself. It is like trying to touch the tip of your tongue with the tip of your tongue. Then acknowledge that the mind itself is being experienced by you, by your awareness to thought. Every time you choose to be aware of a thought, you no longer attached to thinking. You are at a place of pure awareness of the thinking mind. This is how you master the mind. By practicing and becoming familiar with that place that is aware of the thinking mind. Seeing that by choice at any time, you can become aware and detached from the mind gives you the freedom to experience existence directly from its source and not through the mind.
