Sometimes when we are lied to, we call it deception, disrespect, other times we call it a betrayal. Either way, you look at it, we feel hurt, and the reason we get hurt is that we depend on other people's opinions about us. And when we find out that our source of approval was dishonest we begin to question our own worthiness
What we need to understand is that emotions are guidance to achieve our true desires, nothing more and nothing less. When you feel good, you are following your guidance, when you feel bad, you are not. The problem is that most people perceive emotions as unchangeable facts. And since we don't question facts we don't inquire about their purpose.
If you observe this moment, and this moment only, you will find out that you are already physically safe. Each moment that you are able to take a breath is a moment you are safe to exist in. However, not at every moment, we feel emotionally safe. Our emotional safety is compromised by what we think about ourselves and what others think about us.
